How it Works

How Our Packages Work

Fishing

You depart on your fishing trip immediately after breakfast. Your guide’s boat is right outside the back door of the lodge. Rods, reels, and artificial lures are provided by your guide, but you are welcome to bring your own. Natural bait (shrimp, piggy perch or mullet) can be added to your trip but is subject to seasonal availability. Please note that we do not use live croakers at Getaway Lodge due to the adverse impact we believe this bait has on our fishery. Please see our Rates page for the cost of natural bait.

Bay fishing can be wading or drift fishing. We group waders and drift anglers on separate boats if possible and limit the number of anglers on drift fishing boats to 3 anglers for safety reasons. You return to the Lodge about 2:30 – 3:30 in the afternoon unless you prefer to come in earlier. While you are relaxing around the Lodge your guide will clean your catch and pack in freezer bags for travel home.

Guides do not supply wading belts, wading boots or waders. Stingray resistant boots and belts are available for rent at the lodge for those who want to try wade fishing. Please see the Rates page for rental cost.

You are welcome to take beer or liquor on the boat while fishing.  For safety reasons glass containers are not allowed on the boats.  Please be sure all beverages are in aluminum or plastic containers.

Cast & Blast

Our Cast & Blast usually consists of morning fishing and afternoon dove or duck hunting. Shotguns and ammunition are not included in the package but can be supplied. See Rates page.

Cast & Blast packages are Bay fishing only and can be wading or drift fishing. We group waders and drift anglers on separate boats if possible and limit the number of anglers on drift fishing boats to 3 anglers for safety reasons.

Your fishing guide will return you to the Lodge around noon for a hot lunch. You might have time for a short nap before heading out hunting. A light dinner will be served after your group returns from hunting that evening. Your fish and birds are cleaned and packed in freezer bags for travel home.

You are welcome to take beer or liquor on the boat while fishing.  For safety reasons glass containers are not allowed on the boats.  Please be sure all beverages are in aluminum or plastic containers.
